San Francisco Fire Department
 
The San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) currently is comprised of the following units: 45 Fire Stations, 44 Engine Companies, 20 Aerial Truck Companies (100' tractor-drawn aerials), 2 Rescue Squad Companies, 10 Battalions + Airport Division, 2 Divisions Fire Stations, Fire Station 35 had an additional floating building added in 2021.
 
 
 
Fireboats
The SFFD has three fireboats that are docked at Pier 22+1⁄2. Fireboat 1, the Phoenix, was constructed in 1954 and is fitted with three deck monitors, a water town and two under pier monitors. Fireboat 2, the Guardian, was constructed in 1950 and is the oldest fireboat in the fleet. Both boats are 89-foot long and outfitted with two 500 horsepower engines giving them top speeds of 12.5 knots (Guardian) and 15 knots (Phoenix). A third new 85-foot fireboat (Fireboat 3) was christened the St. Francis in October 2016.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Airport Division

The Airport Division is responsible for providing fire protection, fire prevention, code enforcement, emergency medical services, water rescue operations, and hazardous materials abatement for the San Francisco International Airport (SFO).The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is approximately 13 miles south of the City of San Francisco and covers over five square miles.
